The Mighty Fall

In the front of our yard we had a large dead tree. It was injured when our home was first built and it never fully recovered. After a couple years of partial leafing, it finally died. My dad committed to come to Boston and help me take it down. It was a bit too big for me to take down on my own. Besides, it gave my father and I another opportunity to once again prove our lumberjack manhood ; ).

I included these pictures because Rachel took almost every one of them. I think she did a great job capturing the event.

Hats off to Rachel : )

After removing all the limbs, we cut the base. Rachel did a great job catching the instant of the final fall.

As we cut up the larger limbs, the whole family (minus Bethany and Sarah :) pitched in to move the cut logs into the back yard and the brush into the nearby trees.

Rachel came up with her own way of getting the logs behind the house. I wasn't convinced it was the fastest way, but she plowed through it.

Ben had is own technique. He turned into a super hero using his Ben10 alien morphing watch (see his right wrist) and moved the logs using super human strength even faster than Rachel.

Rachel's self portrait was included.

My father and I kept asking my mother to head back inside and to relax, but she can never sit still when there is work to be done.

After two days of work and a whole lot of Advil, we did indeed prove our lumberjack manhood.

As far as the size of tree... I think trunk was much much bigger than this picture captures. It must have been the poor lighting, because it took everything out of us to take it down ; ) .
